Alan Has His Say on the Neymar Transfer
I remember the reaction when Bale sold for £85.3 million to Madrid – what a ridiculous sum of money.
Then a few years later Pogba returns to Manchester United for nearly £90 million and everyone was thinking – god. Is someone going to hit the £100 million mark?
Then last month, Neymar is sold by Barcelona for…
wait for it……
£197 million …… MILLION!
How can I 25 year old footballer be worth such a sum of money.
According to this post from Top Gear you could buy the Nurburgring, you know one of the best race tracks in the world, TWICE.
And still be left with enough change to buy Scotland…
But what PSG are buying is not just his exceptional talent and the extra yards, goals and inevitably wins, but also a commercial gold mine of a superstar who doesn’t show any signs of slowing down for another 5 years!
Some are actually calling this transfer a bargain for the income that will be brought to the club but Alan Brazil says differently.
Alan Brazil, ex England international and more recently the face of Bet on Brazil, has recently given his 5 pence on the news.
Alan Said “For me it’s simple” , its a “bad decision that could have far-reaching consequences.”
He goes on to explain that the Messi, Suarez and Neymar combination might well be the best attacking trio in the world but on his own he isn’t great enough “to drag PSG to the next level” as he doesn’t have the class of Messi or Ronaldo.
I don’t think Alan is wrong as having a player like Messi to complement your game really brings out the best football you can produce and after this transfer he will have to create this magic, near enough, solo.
But lets be honest, great football is not what it comes down to. This is about cash, from all points of view and Barcelona, PSG and Neymar will profit from this handsomely no doubt but when all is said and done, I think its just a shame that that historical trio has been broken up.
